CHS - LEST WE FORGET

As with the other armed services, joining the RAF is not just a career decision but a life changing decision.

Pride in our Service and commitment to the defence of our country is underpinned by the initial officer training received at the RAF College.

In the early years, the 1920s and 1930s, members of a fledgling RAF had to justify the establishment of an independent Air Force. Such justification would be tested during WWII and the RAF would come through with flying colours earning a reputation for he highest standards of air warfare and professionalism. This 'Lest We Forget' Section pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifice made by the early College graduates during WWII and the standards maintained in conflicts thereafter.

Whether it be well documented wars or lesser known conflicts, the RAF has prided itself on being ready and able to deliver a professional and unstinting commitment to serving the crown and our nation. In no small part, this is down to the personal performnce of individuals. On the CHS 'Combatants' Page, we offer some insight into Cranwellian commitment during WWII, the Cold War, in Korea and in the Falklands as a few typical examples.Info
We believe a unique contribution of the CHS website is our diligently researched compilation of Rolls of Honour for Cranwellians who paid the ultimate sacrifice between 1920 and 2019, whether Killed In Action (KIA), Killed On Active Service (KOAS), or Killed in peacetime Flying Accidents (KFA).Info
With unstinting commitment, dedication and achievment usually comes recognition and reward. The CHS 'Honours & Awards' Page compiles the results of our reserch into Cranwellians who have been honoured, endeavouring to maintain those records when the New Years Honours List and King's Birthday Honours List are published.Info
Courtesy of RAF Music, we offer this rendition of the Last Post posted on YouTube in 2023, as a tribute to all Cranwellians who have served their country and paid the ulitimate sacrifice and/or delivered a lifetime of service - Lest We Forget.Info
